Before heading to the EAT'S A DATE event to be spearheaded by OpenRice I went to Cardinal Santos Hospital first to get my mdical results. It was in there where two of my great friends who are now a couple are working. I got so lucky to be car pooled by them and we actually had our private snack somewhere in Katipunan before dropping me off at the Greenstreet Center. The place we cannot easily place matter-of-factly because it is not an easy find. Thus it must be something really good. Well it must be! :) In fact I'm too full to entertain any type of food that moment. Good thing I am at the commercial center 30 minutes before the official start of the event. I get to know the place a bit by strolling around and enjoying the scene of vast land covered with fresh green grass. It is faraway from where I live yet I enjoyed the place a lot. Finally 6PM strikes and I'm on to meet another set of bloggers and learn about Stacy's. But before hitting on FOOD, let me show you first the place and the trinkets that gave the place full of life!
The easel board stating the newest belly satisfying deal they could offer to possible guests that day. Something new and different when compared to the competitors around the area.
This is how the al fresco seating looks like. Very spacious and you can really inhale the fresh air. I love the style of the chair and the overall store appearance. Lovely!
The place is also open for private functions and gatherings. I think this is one cool place to celebrate children's party, baby shower, lovely first dates and possibly any small gatherings that will surely spell success and something memorable. When I get back here in the future I hope that it'll be lovelier the second time around. It was almost Christmas day when we went here and the entire place was covered with Christmas displays and cute ornaments that made it a lot like HOME.
Sharing you here are some of the trinkets that my eyes can't get over with. . .
Stacy's very own Christmas wreath with matching gingerbread at the center. There's no place like home really.
Is the gingerbread still edible? Love to have a jar filled of these colorful cookies. Yum!
I like these Cath Kidston aprons. I
have a bag bearing the same brand as a birthday present to me by my
brother and his girlfriend which they bought in Singapore. I never
imagined that it will make a good apron as well. I thought it is meant
for bags only. Well given the quality, its texture and fabric it will
really do well for homewares and kitchen aids too! I wish to have one of
these aprons too!
The counter area. Nice pink fridge huh! Want to take home that one. Hahaha. Where on Earth did the owners bought it? Maybe it is custom made? Anyway, this is where the candies, pastries and breads can be bought. You can actually seat on those yellow cushioned seats like staying and killing time in an American diner sipping milkshakes while hearty dishes.
Lollipops and Candy Canes are colorful and delicious to lick. These sweets remind me how Christmas should be -temptingly sweet to make the most out of it. I so love Christmastime!
"Be GOOD for GOODNESS sake," as what was printed on this temperature-controlled cake display. Delectable and obviously good treats to end a hearty meal. There's Sansrival, Blueberry Cheesecake, Caramel Cheesecake, Dome Cake, Carrot Cupcakes, Choco Lava which can be topped with vanilla ice cream scoop and Banoffee Pots. They are all homemade thus, freshness is guaranteed.
So how do I find the place??? I'd
like to say that the ambiance was pretty and nicely set up. Most likely
it is child-friendly zone. Ergo, for the youngsters but also for the
young-at-heart too! Oh well that includes me and you.
Some of us for sure brought back to one's childhood memories of playing
with their small or even life-size doll houses. It is like being inside
a Polly Pocket. if you know what I mean. Yes that is how I
deeply find this place. Plus the fact that they are offering home-made
and mostly "stateside" made of dishes. Every girl would love to be here
and that includes me.
Right now, I SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!
Now let me take you to the bottom of this event - EATING!
For the drinks we were given the opportunity to order for our chosen drink. We made use of this menu folder below. Isn't lovely to scan. Simply made yet the list of food items inside are really interesting and worth a try. I think we were able to taste most that can be ordered from the menu if not ALL.
APPETIZER
Everything here is lively and colorful. There was never a dull moment. The food is as delish as its interior. We were initially served with small colorful pails of popcorn as we wait for others to arrive. They are so nice-looking. Great presentation! The idea of having some chocolate knot pretzels and yummy mallows on top is just so cool.
We can really binge the small bucket of treats in no time. Good for sharing.
In no time popcorn placed in a festive small-sized tin buckets are gone.
As we kill time talking to each other's interests we never noticed that
the bucket once full is now empty.
DRINKS
Shirley Temple
This is my personal choice with a perfect glass stirrer bearing a heart-shaped handle! It is so pink and girl-y too! A carbonated thus non-alcoholic drink with an infusion of grenadine syrup (making its pinkish color) garnished with maraschino cherries.
Some others ordered for Green Apple Iced Tea which is is too dark for me but tasted good with a real infusion of apple flavor. Also Raspberry Blush Iced Tea which is great tasting too which I tried sipping one after another from my seatmate's.
Never tasted this Rootbeer Float though but when I asked the food server which brand between A&W and Mug Rootbeer do they use to make this drink possible, she honestly admitted that it was the former. That must be great tasting as only rare restaurants use A8W brand for their rootbeers nowadays.
SALADS
Chicken Caesar Salad
Grilled Shrimp and Pomelo Salad
After the popcorn as an appetizer we were next served with these greens. I find more tasty and unique the second salad that landed on our table because I'm too tired of tasting caesar salad from restos in the metro and in every event I've been too lately. But I can truly say that both were good healthy choices as they were not commercially made. What I particularly liked are the inclusion and possible concoction of shrimp on the rich taste of pomelo flesh and juices. The fruity syrup of pomelo gave the real kick and I love it 100%!
PASTAS
Stacy's Spaghetti and Meatballs
The meatballs are really huge and very meaty. Take note: no adulteration was made. The crust is not made mostly of breading which we normally eat and see outside of this restaurant. The pasta is al dente and coated well with the spaghetti sauce. You will never felt being shortchanged when you dine in here. You are just getting the value of your money. Believe me!
Dear John
This is healthiest and yummiest at the same time among the pastas served. I'm so fond of eating pastas with spanish sardines with matching black olives that gave the entire dish a totally irresistible aura!
Mac and Cheese Please
At first sight, I really can't find it attractive because of the vibrant color of orange covering the elbow pastas. It is so not easy on the eye not until I tasted it. All the while I thought they were using some food coloring to add to the overall appeal of the dish. It was explained it to us by the Ms. Angelique that no adulteration nor addition being made for their Mac and Cheese, only that they are using some kind of fresh and secret ingredient which is definitely not bad for human consumption. This plated dish is a great try. Creamy and really cheeseeeeeey. . .
Bacon and Mushroom Carborana
The whole wheat toasted loaf slice is a very good siding for this pasta dish. Dish is creamy as it should be and filled with mushroom slices and bacon chips too. However, I find it normal tasting.
SPOONFULS
Stacy Jones
An all-day breakfast item that is made with tender beef sirloin which is of US origin topped with toasted garlic. Served with a heart-shaped scoop of rice sided with any way you like 'em eggs and freshly cut thick tomato slice. Such a hearty meal under the name of the strong influencer of this restaurant. So heartwarming!
Granny's Picnic Bowl
The plate consisted of pork adobo and flaked chicken topped with kesong puti served with still heart-shaped garlic rice and sided with scrambled egg and fresh mango salsa. This is my fave among the rice-based items being sampled on us. Just perfect!
Buffalo Wing Flings
This plated dish is simple yet fulfilling. I was satisfied with the way they cook their wings coated with sweet almost honey like orange sauce with only a tinge of chili. Belly satisfying!
Bluebell Farm's Beef Casserole
This one was plated using a plain rice (with such a full of heart serving of heart-shaped steamed rice) sided with a handful of corn and carrots. The viand is too tasty that plain rice is I bet only the best complementary carbohydrate rich food to match with.
Pot Roast
Another beef viand smothered with mushroom sauce. A nice pick for those who really want a perfectly made homemade pot roast. Tender to the bite.
Waikiki Omu-Rice
It's like I'm eating a Japanese-inspired omelette. Heavy to the belly because of the buttery garlic rice that enveloped by the cheesy omelette drizzled with Japanese mayo and catsup for extra flavor. Really too heavy for me. There is no stopping me to taste everything on the table. Just a little of everything!
AFTER DINNER TREAT
Green Tea and Mint
Cafe Latte
My choice . Need to fill my tummy with a rich creamy latte. No need to go to Starbucks with my friend Carlo that night, which we really planned.
Vanilla Brown Sugar One of the tastiest sugar I found at Stacy's. Perfect for coffee and lattes. |
We were not given desserts but instead a hot after-dinner treat to soothe our throat and tummy as well. Maybe the host was thinking we were too full to have calorie-rich sweets because of the festive and non-stop sampling of dishes on our long table. Oh well she was absolutely right! A hot cup of drink is super fine with me as it relaxes me after a two-hour long bingeing.. I mean eating! Some ordered Twinings tea and a few others opted for cappuccino.
My new-found acquaintances and bloggers. At the center beside me, wearing sky blue tanktop and pink cardigan is Ms. Angelique Abesamis-Castro (one of the owners of Stacy's) I noticed that she was wearing the color concept of her restaurant. I dunno if she prepared for it that night or just pure coincidence. I only reckoned it while uploading these pics for my blog. Cool!
