This is a common scenario when past 9 o'clock in the evening strikes. And it happens daily at Tous les Jours branch in SM City North, Quezon City. It was first introduced it to me by a sweet girl named Sumi and Melo after covering an event for a burger joint that is growing better than ever in Manila January of this year. Since then my mother and I have been a constant buyer of their half-priced bakery items which is such a promising venue apart from that of French Baker which shares the same idea of selling their items at 50% off the original price at least an hour before the mall officially closes. As a matter of fact this will be my very first time to blog about this authentic bakery even after so many joyful moments I had with it for the past seven months.
As per the description in TLJ's Facebook fan page, Tous Les Jours brand was launched in Korea in 1996 to give consumers a totally satisfying bakery experience. It launched an on-site production system for each store, which guarantees the quality of fresh, delectable cakes made from the finest ingredients. Also, as a domestic leader in the bakery industry with over 1,700 stores, Tous Les Jours established Korea's first, Internet-based Total Information System (TIS) for franchise operations; first bakery mileage card system for consumers; and modeled the development of multi-bakery shops to maximize the reach of its outlets. Through these and other services, Tous Les Jours continues to be a step ahead in technology and service in the domestic Korean industry.
Prima facie, I thought this brand launched from Italy for some unknown reason but then I was so wrong. And could you believe that TLJ has over 1,600 stores worldwide and to think that they are baking fresh everyday? That would mean tons and tons of flour butter, and sugar, right?
This branch can be found at the ground floor level and easily be seen at left side once you enter the mall. So noticeable before you decide to shop at the SM Supermarket or you reach the escalator. Tous les Jours sells a lot of homemade pretty cakes, pastries and bread. But do not expect their cakes be sold at half the price as I never ever encountered it. I promise to let you guys know should it happen in the future. By the way I know you are were wondering the exact translation of this bakery and more so its pronounciation so her it is. . .TOUS les JOURS means "Everyday" in French. It is pronounced, "Tu-le-juru".
Let your senses be overwhelmed by these artisan cakes. . .
Tous les Jours beverages (not included in the sale). In the display chiller you can find and grab natural mineral water, canned coffee drinks, milk drinks, juices and soda which all came from Korea.
Yes, reheating is absolutely fine with Tous les Jours! And discounts can be availed too by the senior citizens.
Sumi and her cake :) She and her boyfriend bought her a super aesthetically appealing birthday cake a day before her birthday. So sweet!
I just bought three breads for personal consumption that night and I must say my choices are delectable even if there had been scarcity when it comes to choices left at the display counter. This was due to influx of bread buyers who are like under some spell of panic buying. Who would not crave for TLJ breads which are obviously of high quality and something which you can get your money's worth, right?
Soboro (PhP 28), Mini Sausage Patty (PhP28) and Sweet Potato Pie (PhP48) were the breads that made my midnight snack so complete and best partnered with a glass of warm milk. In my future reviews I'll show you some nice photos of breads and pastries that me and Ma bought for the past months. Bakery items shots which I surely have in my external drive. Watch out for it as I am still busy compiling and sorting out my food photos that need to be reviewed and shared to you folks.
My official receipt dated January 30, 2012.
So have you tried Tous les Jours lately? If not, I bet this is the time! They still have two branches in Alabang Town Center and SM Southmall. Always remember that what sets TLJ apart from other bakery is their unique product line infused with Asian touch. No wonder it was launched in Korea though the term used was French.
