Chef Hasset Go Bloggers Night: The Il Mercanti Experience

Live cooking show demo using King Sue for a pasta dish by a young and fresh chef born and raised in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental. Moreover, he too is one of the products of Heny Sison Culinary School, Owner of MedChef Homemade Cakes and Pastries, Co-owner of Desserts Strip of Chef Maribel in Cagayan De Oro, Chef Instructor of Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro, One of the chefs behind Chefs and Foodservice Community of the Philippines and of course Global Excellence and People's Choice Awardee as an Outstanding Young Chef by Asia Pacific Awards
Chef Hasset Go, my chef idol.  I felt so privileged to have finally met this humble person of my age who also loves baking. I've been to Il Mercanti and Banchetto several times already where his MedChef must-try desserts are ubiquitous, as if each and every food stall is selling one. I particularly love his famous Pastry Tower because of its uniqueness in terms of appearance and packaging style but honestly I never get to taste it not until the challenge during the bloggers event set it. However, I'm buying his homemade pastries each time I drop by at the food bazaars in Ortigas.

The bloggers night was filled with ultimate fun and surprises which started at exactly 8PM despite the weather. It was hosted by good-natured people who kept the crowd alive even if the show finished at past 11 PM. Boyz Next Door did an intermission while foods are being served courtesy of the concessionaires of Il Mercanti Food Bazaar. They are the following: Los Hermanos, Tita Carol, Philly Mignon, Cusina Marina, Macaros, Corndog, Pasta Boulivar and Tess Ihaw. Aisaku, a pure Japanese who is fond of singing tagalog and japanese songs in a jazz way was there too.

Yummylicious!

Tate testing is the best.

Another live demo from the sweets master's kitchen. Oh! That's the well-know PASTRY TOWER!!!!
I am one of those who joined and tried to finish the Junior Pastry Tower. With 5 in a group we happen to finish it collectively but the other group was so fast that they won the said PASTRY TOWER DEMOLITION CONTEST. It was such a marvelous experience. Aside from the good sport and fun, one can't deny that the tower is full of amazing goodness that palate can be overly satisfied. I can hardly finish one because it was so dense.
By the way Pastry Tower has two sizes: Grande and Junior. Grande has 10  layers of assorted cakes, bars and cookies while the junior has seven. Perfect to surprise one's sweetheart.

The CAKE FASHION SHOW
I enjoyed everything fro the live cooking demonstrations to the intermission and activities, but this show is one of my faves. They are delicious looking and healthy too. So if you want healthy choices for desserts try these. See each one of them in my separate post. Click here. I have to say that they are indeed future best sellers!

The event was jampacked with young and professional bloggers alike. Allow me to say that Mark Joseph was really accommodating. Good job!

Each and every blogger was given loot bags loaded with so much surprises.
I did not expect it to be this much.
