Donuts selection area |
Ever wondered what does J.CO stand for? Oh well, the people behind this most-sought after donut and coffee company originated in Indonesia are not going to spill the beans. That adds mystery to ths brand and further provokes public interest and excitement. Yours truly was invited by OpenRice Philippines and J.CO Donuts and Coffee SM Megamall branch last week for a brief yet sumptuous breakfast session with the marketing heads and staff of both companies along with food bloggers and OpenRicers.

Production area. A view from the dining area. I was like a paparazzi, shooting every kneading and rolling of dough by their serious and trained bakers. Neat, orderly and clean area where our J.CO donuts are made.
Each time I visit this outlet their colorful mural or wall art always had me. A simple cartoon art that reflects a teenagers or young professional's lifestyle. Something that depicts youth that most people of my age group could relate and appreciate. And are you aware who is the designer behind this wall? Aileen, my seatmate that day shared that it was Charlene Villamor, a local artist. How I wish to meet this her in the flesh. :)
This branch is by far the most spacious outlet that they built so far and the one which is truly accessible for me. However, every time I drop by I already expect long queues day and night and worst some donuts are unavailable. Yeah, I am one of those people who went loco over this donut sensation and can manage to surpass even the most irksome moment especially relating to slow service. And have you ever heard of one of their stores that was not able to open on time due to stock out of ingredients about a month ago? My dear friend relayed the info to me and I was like dumbstruck and realized But then this will be my very first time to blog about them given the numerous times I spontaneously visited this branch so read on!
Hot JCoccino PhP115 (Uno or 12oz.) PhP130 (Due or 16oz.)
This is considered to be one of the exquisite, imaginative and original innovation from J. Coffee, it is called the Cappuccino Specialist. This formulation is espresso-based with drip milk and you'll be delighted with the tagline 'Don't miss the last drop'.
I was uber happy to see the latte art on this drink and very viable for
Instagram-sharing or Facebook and Twitter uploading. The chocolate made
into art acts as a sweetener in this caffeinated drink. Want a great
kick for your lazy morning? You ought to try this one, pals.
I have a crush on this mug and this will do a perfect Christmas gift for a coffee addict like me. This is just one of their limited edition high-quality merchandise that is out for grabs. J.CO has four different sizes of coffee mugs and cups to suit your preference. Collect and collect and have your own signature drink fill your mugs.
Alcapone is the most saleable donut item of J.CO. With a soft
bite covered with Belgian white chocolate and Californian almonds, who
would not disagree with its heavenly taste and quality? You think you could match my extreme hunger for this donut? As I bet to eat as much as 6 pieces in one sitting :) On the other hand, the newest addition to their donut line up is Mona Pisa. It is a pizza donut made with sausage bits, glaze and tomato sauce. A savory donut that you might want to try on your next visit. Savory and incredible good. J.CO DONUT PRICES: 1pc PhP42 | 6pcs PhP230 | 1 dozen PhP350 | 2 dozen PhP550
Additionally, we were given small cups or shots of J.CO beverages for tasting. Take note that they are not the actual size. They are serving only 2 serving sizes for their drinks, Uno being the 12oz version and Due is the 16oz.
JCoccino Frappe PhP135 (Uno) PhP150 (Duo) is like that of JCoccino cappuccino only that this one is the cold version that is sweet, foamy and thick in consistency. Iced Hazelnut Latte PhP120 (Uno) PhP135 (Duo) has a fragrant quality of a real hazelnut that is nice to sniff. It was somewhat chocolate-y for me that glides smoothly on my throat.
Iced Thai Tea PhP100 (Uno) PhP115 (Due) is a black tea-based kind of drink that is much like a milk tea that is thick in texture and sweet in taste. Green Tea Frappe PhP130 (Uno) PhP145 (Due) is like the Japanese matcha but this one loaded with milk making it really creammmmy and sooo goood!
Café Avocado PhP120 (Uno) PhP135 (Duo) is a coffee-based drink made healthier with the infusion of avocado taste plus chocolate drizzles and slivers. Unique blend! Orange Yogurt Frappe PhP135 (Uno) PhP150 (Due) is a J.Cool
yogurt-based drink that is just so perfect for any season. A suggested
drink for health buffs.
The last thing we did was to choose a J.COOL Yogurt that tickle most of our senses. Again, the photos above are not the actual cup sizes. It is obviously a healthy alternative type of snack that is light and fat free! Combine it with delicious topping from fruits, chocolates and candies that are healthy options too without the guilt. I preferred to top my newly-dispensed yogurt with kiwi pieces. My seatmate had strawberry mochi and others blueberry, nuts and chocolates. It has over 20 dry and fruit toppings to choose from. Should you want to indulge, here's the price list: SINGLE (1 topping) PhP95 | COUPLE (2+1 free topping) PhP140 SHARING (3+1 free topping) PhP190 | TO-GO (4 toppings) PhP240
I know I have not met all the members of the J.CO Donuts and Coffee family but I will soon get to know all of them and in a better and much exciting way. I was actually expecting to fulfill my breakfast time with them with J.Club Sandwiches but of no avail it was not offered for taste test. I gotta have to try them real soon.
Branches: SM Mall of Asia, Greenbelt 3 and Trinoma.
