Everyday Mom in Quezon City: Healthy and Yummy. Naturally!

Everyday Mom in Quezon City: Healthy and Yummy. Naturally!
It is still fresh in my memory how one of my closest friend in the blogging community and I were planning to visit this small pastry shop along Scout Tuason in Quezon City a few months ago after attending an event at a restaurant near it, until I  got an  invitation from a dear friend to visit Everyday Mom  one afternoon. It was just the beginning of the week to sweetly welcome by being inside this cute and dainty doll house-looking shop selling only homemade treats.

The small group of foodies in which yours truly was included was happily welcomed by a home baker named Pamela Ann Yu Lim. She relayed to us that the shop was made possible because she used to be a full time mom blogger who talks and shares about parenthood and her deep passion for baking. Everyday Mom was established in April 2012 by a mother's commitment to serve healthy and yummy goodies to her family, most especially her kids.

Isn't her brand logo cute and striking? It was actually made by her friend Beth Parocha-Doctolero, a known Filipino visual artist and children's book illustrator.

There are 5 remarkable reasons why you should choose baked items here than any other bake shop. These sentences are actually provided in a large colorful board upon entering the place. Let me enumerate you the list:

-  Everyday Mom uses stainless steel pans for baking. Stainless steel pans are non-toxic and non-reactive to food.
-  Everyday Mom uses unbleached flour for baking. Unbleached flour is high in protein and is not chemically treated.
- Everyday Mom uses aluminum-free baking soda and baking powder. Aluminum-free leaveners are extracted by an all-natural water process that uses no chemicals.
- Everyday Mom uses non-hydrogenated rice bran oil. Rice bran oil contains healthy, unsaturated fats and has healthy anti-oxidant benefits.
- Everyday Mom does not use artificial colors, sweeteners, preservatives or flavorings. We only use fresh ingredients, real chocolate, sea salt, and pure vanilla extract.

To eat is to believe! So to finally discover the truth behind those words and claims we were given samples and samples of assorted healthy, yummy and naturally good home made baked goodies. Here they are:

One of my greatest passion is baking and I regularly bake small items like Banana Muffins and Banana Loaf, cookies, muffins and the likes, so I think I know a good baked item when I see and taste one. Everyday Mom's Banana Bread is not just bursting with walnuts and fresh bananas  but is so moist and very fragrant too!  One can enjoyably eat an entire loaf without realizing it. PhP180/loaf and you may need to add PhP50 for dark chocolate chips or walnuts.

Black and White Cupcake is their newest addition and I was just so lucky to be served one for food tasting purposes. It is made with rich chocolate partnered with a heavenly cheesecake center that makes it so oozing with so much flavor that is tangy and sweet at the same time. According to Ms. Pam, this is her kids favorite. Carrot Cupcake, on the other hand, is a wholesome treat for it is mainly made with finely grated carrots, added with walnuts and then topped with extremely luscious cream cheese frosting. This is considered as their best seller! And now my favorite brand for carrot cake. Both cupcakes are worth PhP40. Not bad!

Cafe Mocha Cupcake looks pleasant because it is topped with mocha whipped cream, it is also moist like all the cupcakes I've tried that hour and what makes this piece different and exudes with strong flavor was because of the splash of coffee in the recipe. PhP40 per piece. The very last cupcake we've tried was the Chocolate Banana Cupcake which is the cheapest of them all, PhP30 per piece. also moist, has deep taste with inclusion of course with fresh bananas and then topped with bittersweet ganache for a more delightful experience.

When asked why Red Velvet is intriguingly not available of all the cupcakes? Ms. Pam simply said that she wants to make sure that each ingredient she uses are of natural state aside from being of highest quality. Hence, for most of you who do not know yet, Red Velvet uses large quantity of food coloring to achieve its red color. So I think we better study well what we buy before purchasing it for our own consumption. Reading labels and inquiring about something won't harm you.

Everyday Mom's Butter-free Brownies costs PhP40 per piece and they have three variants which we all tried. Palawan Cashews are made with roasted cashews freshly sourced from Palawan. Chocolate Chip has a fudgy and chewy appeal with awesome portion of chocolate chip.  Peanut Butter Swirl has a perfect combination of chocolate and peanut butter, just right for peanut butter and chocolate fan like me. Assorted mini box of six brownies is PhP240 and PhP480 for the loaf box containing 12 assorted pieces.

Raisin Oatmeal Cookies are crisp cookies with chewy raisins. A right kind for those who wants to snack on a healthier note. PhP20 per piece and PhP126 per pack of six pieces. Other variants are Crinkles and Cranberry Oatmeal Cookies which deserve my second visit and more.

This Carrot Cake certainly has the same ingredient as its cupcake counterpart except the fact that this one is designed with a heart using fresh cinnamon powder. Imagine even in decorating cakes food colors are a big no no! An 8-inch square as shown in the photo above is PhP400 and  for mini round cake it is PhP250. Perfect for gifting and giveaways. This should be keep refrigerated to avoid the frosting from melting.

Everyday Mom accepts orders for special occasions but bulk orders are case to case basis. Delivery is not possible to avoid compromising the quality of products especially that most items require refrigeration. All items must be consumed promptly upon purchase although it has shelf life of 3 days to one week. This shop is beside Wheatberry and near Max's Restaurant. Visit them and experience the love and care their baked treats could offer.
