Little Asia means a little of everything for me. I've started to get to know the place in 2007 with my college barkada, with whom from time to time we meet at their Greenhills Promendae branch to have great food, good time and enjoy each others company. Frequent visits means infecting my family and relatives to try this restaurant and be wowed with the mixture of diverse high quality cuisines that can be found truly in Asia. Last week, I had a late lunch with a few foodies from the blogosphere at the Tomas Morato Avenue branch wherein my palate was given a chance to discover more Asian fusion dishes. I'm so lucky to have met the president and founder of the restaurant, Mr. Charlemagne C. Lim, who was good natured and very accommodating.
The last time I dined at this branch with close friends was about 2 years ago and it was a Good Friday. Click this link. Since then major renovations were made across their different branches making Little Asia's ambiance more powerful and appealing with its modern European interior. Therefore, they succeeded in creating cozy and luxurious dining space that could lure more loyal guests and new diners as well. For your information, this one in Tomas Morato could cater 150 guests more or less, but I fall in love with their branch in McKinley the very first time I set foot in the resto. Love their ambiance there particularly the chandeliers and wall design. So lucrative!
Enough of the special atmosphere or mood of the restaurant. Let's go directly to the dishes which truly deliver symphony of flavors.
Vietnamese Spring Rolls PhP225
This served as our starters. A traditional Vietnamese fried Spring Rolls stuffed with glass noodles, pork, crab and mushrooms. Best dipped in nuoc cham, a type of Vietnamese dipping sauce, in order to bring all the elements together. I can't help it but I finished three pieces of this spring roll. The dip was unbelievably good!
Sichuan Chicken PhP255
Crispy Chicken pieces toasted in Little Asia's salt and pepper spice mix with Thai chili. This dish is certainly not for the faint-hearted as it is spicy more than you can imagine. Try one to believe. In my case, I nearly collapsed just by a little bite (pun intended), but for chili and spicy food lovers I know for sure you can withstand aggressively spicy foods like this.
Little Asia's Crispy Chicken PhP265
A house specialty that you must try if you are a first-timer. Well this is one of the delicious friend chicken in town that I can vouch. It is so flavorful and juicy that you need to allow approximately 20 minutes to serve before you. Surely, it is worth the wait.
Coconut Fish Fillet PhP275
Fried fish fillets covered in coconut cream sauce with mixed spices and basil. Something that is so impossible to resist especially if you are on a more rice diet.
Beef Tenderloin Rolls with Cheese in Teriyaki Sauce PhP335
Rolled sliced beef with chopped vegetables and cheese sauteed in authentic Teriyaki sauce. The first time I ingest, chew and swallow a roll, i almost died. It was extremely delicious that I was blinded with all the Asian dishes served on our table. Instantly became the apple of my eye. Oh I couldn't forget this dish ever in my life.
Drunken Lengua in Mushroom Brown Sauce PhP335
I am forever a fan of lengua. I normally eat this dish on special occasions so I indulge the moment I saw this dish is coming to land our table. Pan-seared ox tongue with mushroom, asparagus and a touch of white wine brought great satisfaction to my palate.
Thai Eggplant with Minced Pork and Shrimps PhP225
Eggplant stuffed with pork and shrimps in their own sweet Thai sauce. For non-veggie eater, you must try this dish as you cannot easily tell that it is majority made of eggplant because of the rich and full taste of pork and shrimps made more yummy with the inclusion of Thai sauce. Totally different!
Chocolate Sweet Potato Chips PhP165
You know what is surprising about this dessert is the fact that the sweet potato chips used in this recipe are homemade and then covered with milk chocolate. Served with vanilla ice cream. Love the plating? So do I :)
Caramel Mango Tower PhP175
A grand slam winner at first sight. The kind of dessert that you'll easily fall for. Made with baked wontons with caramelized mangoes in between and then sided with vanilla ice cream with drizzles of chocolate and caramel sauces. The degree of gratification I felt was so high. Uber yummy!
