My Singapore Food Street is your official gateway to abundant Singaporean food culture and flavoursome Singaporean dishes. If you are a regular mall goer of SM Megamall like me, you most likely have noticed that the vast Orchard Road restaurant (where I usually eat my Kachang), situated at the 2nd level bridgeway of the mall is now replaced with this brand new food establishment. The then sizeable dining place shifted to a meduim-sized establishment though still houses authentic Singaporean cuisine. The road became a street. How's that for a breaking news?
My Singapore Food Street definitely brings to Manila the taste and great style of Singapore's hawker centers. It is but proper to mention than not only Singaporeans are allowed to enjoy its presence but Filipinos too whose appetite for good food is never ending especially that dishes are reasonably priced. The dining area was filled with foodies, media, members of the online community and paying customers alike during the first day of operation. It simply shows how well-loved this place is even if it got its new name and management. For your information, this is owned by business entrepreneur Jean Henri Lhuillier and Asian TV personality and celebrity chef Vivien Tan.
Our group was served with this huge basket filled with colorful Kropek. We surely had enough cracker made with tapioca starch. I wonder why my palate cannot hint the taste of seafood on it. Maybe there was something wrong with my taste buds or it was just the way it is. Apart from killing our grand time nibbling these crakers in front of us, we have tasted the following as well...
Nasi Goreng PhP175
Known to be the national dish of Indonesia, this rice dish is made with charsiew meat, chinese sausage, cabbage, garlic, red onion, carrots, green peas, sweet corn, shrimp, sambal chili, scrambled egg and dark soy sauce. It included so much ingredients that can hardly be detected by the naked eye, but once you taste it you know that this is how Nasi Goreng should be served. Has both strong and spicy taste
Hainanese Chicken Meal PhP195
Fresh chicken steamed in garlic, ginger, salt and sauces and served with Hainanese rice, ginger sauce, chili sauce, dark soy sauce and of course chicken soup. The right and best way to eat this dish can be found here.
A large bowl of noodle soup made with luglug noodles in coconut creamy soup topped with fish cake, togue, baby prawn and boiled egg. Delectably spicy and creamy that cannot be easily stopped from eating.
Frozen Milo Dinosaur PhP110
An ice blended beverage that is so cool and truly refreshing choco drink. I suggest youhave this if you are no good with coffee or Teh Tarik.
However, the following food items are also considered My Singapore Food Street's best selling items which I wasn't able to include in my power lunch that day.
Char Kway Teow PhP195
Stir fried flat and yellow mee noodles, togue, garlic, red onion, egg, Chinese sausage, fish cake, shrimp with dark soy sauce and Thai patis.
Satay Chicken PhP250 (8 pieces)
Grilled chicken marinated in special spices, ginger, lemongrass and onion.
5 Spice Tofu PhP80
A vegetable dish that can be treated as an appetizer, a side dish, or a meal. Naturally high in protein that is ideal to eat to reach your nutrient requirement for the day.
You need not go out of the country to savor and discover a fusion of cultures because at My Singapore Food Street you can have pleasurable meals in a wide array of sumptuous Asian food anytime. For me, this place deserves another round of food trip. And definitely another food review as well.
Selamat menjamu selera!
