After taking our late lunch at Ka Inato restaurant in Tandang Sora, Ms. Jinkee and Ms. Joy and I tried to explore this side of Quezon City where we seldom set foot in; we seriously looked for a comfortable dessert place to complete our awayday! It is as if our day is considered incomplete had we not gratify the desire of our sweet palate. Along the way we've seen hole in the wall restaurants that we've already tried and tested. We wanted something different and of course blog-worthy.
That afternoon we discovered what we have been looking for, Oliva Bistro Cafe situated along the busy street of Visayas Avenue. It is a small sized cafe that offers mixture of Greek, Mediterranean and Traditional American and Italian cuisine, ideal for spending quality time with girl friends and co-workers. It was quite deserted the moment we came in for a fulfilling dessert and light snack, but as time passes guests filled the dining area and suddenly it is peak hour for the wait staff. It is good to note that staff here were very very accommodating, friendly and competent. Strong wifi connection allowed us in sharing our moments of happiness (real time) in social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram.
All tables were properly set up for the walk-in guests and patron's convenience. You can easily notice that this is a fine dining place. Actually, that week Oliva Bistro Cafe has an ongoing anniversary promo as they just turned one this year. Naturally, we availed of the said promo which I will be sharing later.
The cafe is generally inviting because of its warm ambiance which I think maybe brought about by the old world interiors as shown above. What do you think? I want my future home to be designed with these luxurious Mediterranean style knickknacks.
Oliva Burger is a quarter pound beef patty with bacon, lettuce, cheese, pickles and tomatoes, sided with golden brown french fries.
Big time snacking was never our plan, just coffee and desserts! But who can decline a promo as big as this which is coupled with huge savings? This is Oliva Cafe's Anniversary treat I've been telling you. Oliva Burger plus a glass of coke for only PhP130 (original price is PhP260).And this is not your ordinary kind of burger because the patty is insanely tasty, beefy, thick and without extenders. All the other ingredients used were fresh. Definitely, this burger deserves a big big bite followed by a huge smile. Same is true with the steak cut fries with skin on which is surprisingly not that oily.
One of us preferred to have a cup of Brewed Coffee (PhP65) which only shows how much she loves coffee and never end the day without indulging one. That time, however, I would rather tend to choose Hot Indian Milk Tea for a change, but since I was craving or something cold, sweet and creamy due to the intense heat outside I settled for cold desserts.
Marble Cheesecake with Strawberry Coulis PhP120
An impressive slice of cake fit for a cheesecake lover like us. Decorative. Beautifully swirled and flavored. Exciting for both the eyes and the palate. It is tangy, sweet of course and rich in texture that you cannot easily resist. I really liked its thick mixture of cream cheese, egg and sugar. Just totally addicting!
Vanilla Panna Cotta with Candied Orange Peel and Honey PhP80
Delicious Italian custard which I ordered to answer my call for a creamy, mesmerizing dessert! Expectedly, it was chilled enough when served to our table, the way gelatin should be. I rarely taste excellent -tasting and perfect panna cotta and I should include this one on my list. There are only few of this kind which has an orange-vanilla kick that is superior tasting, softly set and silky smooth that slip down easily through your throat.
Coppa Affogato PhP80
If you have a strong appetite for sweet food combined with high level of caffeine, then you better try this affogato. It is a combination of vanilla and chocolate ice cream scoops with an incredibly stimulating shot of espresso. Its varying taste of bitterness and sweetness blend together to create a beverage that will drown you with all the goodness. I wonder how would this taste of gelato was used instead of the regular kind of ice cream flavors.
Now, do you like to pay Oliva Cafe Bistro a visit anytime soon? It is open daily from 11:00AM to 10:00PM. I highly suggest to bring your special someone or a dear friend. Assuredly, it will be a sweet surprise and delectable idea too!
