SMACKED SNACK: Popcorn Freak!

I am truly a popcorn addict. I so love eating popcorn no matter what brand it may be or on what occasion. Once I pop I cannot stop! Whenever I am at a grocery store I never left the place without having at least a bag or canister of it. I keep on trying and testing any brand and flavor as long as I am not penniless. Popcorn eating cannot just be attributed during film viewing as the best movie partner. To me I can have it anytime of the day as  frequently as I can.  Just recently I get hooked into eating microwave cooked popcorn. I am not totally a fan of this before but I guess some things are just meant to be broken or at least modified. There were studies that microwaved food might kill you overtime but I'm not worrying about it as of the moment. What is important is that I'm enjoying what I am eating . . .

Here's what I got and tasted lately. . .

Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn

Here's what my aunt gave us as one of her presents upon arriving from a trip abroad. A pasalubong which I find really interesting than imported chocolates, snacks etcetera. A brand I haven't seen yet in groceries. Do you guys know where I can find this? A little help please... I love this brand more that its local counterpart. I'll tell you why at the bottom of this review.

MagicTime Yellow Cheddar Microwave Popcorn
The one which I sourced from a nearby grocery store to compensate for the brand I was looking for. (something I miss eating already).

Verdict:
As we all know every brand of microwave popcorn has different cooking time and results. It is usually the results that most of us are excited about. The beauty of  Orville Redenbacher's Popcorn  is that it created plenty of yield than what I bought from a local supermarket (Magic Time). Both are premium brands and imported. Also, both are cheddar in size and flavor too. I just went loco over the former because of its big puff and real cheddar taste. Both are good brands I believe. Downside in microwaving popcorn is that there are some unpopped kernels unlike the ones we buy from food stalls. I surmise it is cheaper if one buys from the food stalls and kiosks like that of Chef Tony's and Holy Kettle Corn if you are a type of person who wants to get the value-for-money. Because to tell you frankly I find it  quite expensive when buying a box of microwave popcorn with 3 bags on it and learning later that there are unpopped ones which could have been the best popped corns too.  Oh well reality bites!

Mc Donald's Greenhills NEW LOOK!

Right after having some sweet moments in Figaro Promenade for a couple of hours, even if is past 10 in the evening we still have the luxury of time to enjoy the remaining night together. We then headed to the nearby Mc Donald's store to experience their fast wifi connection plus chocolate sundae! What amused us was its new concept look. It wasn't the Mc Donald's I just saw a few weeks back. . . hmmmm... I used to be a regular customer here and the news from one of the broadsheets I read said that most of the Mc Donald's store in Manila will be undergoing some renovations for a more exciting look. To see really is to believe!

FIGARO in Greenhills Promenade: Remembering October

FIGARO in Greenhills Promenade: Remembering OctoberThis was our next destination after using our paper vouchers for BonAppetea. We went to Greenhills Shopping Center to look for a compatible leather case for my newest and coolest gadget for the year 2011. The one I won from Unlimited R.I.C.E Promo of OpenRice Philippines. Time to do some window shopping and dressing up at the same time my Apple iPad 2 which I considered a hard-earned prize thru non-stop 3 months personal food review.
Armed with a booklet of  Figaro coupons that day, which I accidentally bought from a man named Paul from SmartConcept during the last few days of August, I had no choice but to happily redeem some of the said valid coupons after tediously bargained for my gadget's protector and casing . The best things in life are either free or at a super discounted price, so I thought! Thanks to this man whom I am grateful for dropping at my workplace and sell the limited promotion to me. (Picture of the said booklet can be seen on my next post).

Iced Mocha PhP135
We thought we need something that will stimulate us that Thursday night  in order to maximize each others company, so we ordered for this super bold iced Cold Drink. Rich in texture and extra bold in taste.  There is a bitter after-taste as expected of an iced mocha. I believe this is by far the most bitter tasting iced cold coffee I've encountered. But it certainly did serve its purpose- to stimulate us! we enjoyed the drink as we enjoyed our bonding time together. I just had to put a packet of brown sugar for this drink for me to enjoy it all the more.

Last year  I bought 1 dozen of vouchers for this tea bar named BonAppetea which I purchased through online shopping. I'm really into group buying sites with my bestfriend as a major influencer. Whenever I thought that it is worth buying, I will really go out of my way to purchase it. Since I'm a foodie and would really take risks into tasting something new and different, buying food vouchers from time to time help my little caprices adequately. This was how I discovered this small tea bar in Ortigas. I made use of my vouchers after claiming my grand prize from the OpenRice Philippines head office in Taipan Building October of 2011. I really prepared for that big day as I want to treat myself and indulge into something really cool yet inexpensive. Me and my gastronomic buddy's first stop was here. It was situated in the food court area of Strata 2000 Building along with the wide array of food kiosks.

Here is their simple menu board displaying all sorts of tea. From Fruit Teas, Simpliciteas, Milk Teas, Yogurt Teas, NaughTeas, Hearbal Teas and VitalTeas.
